Academics
South Point High School offers a strong academic program that prepares students for success in college and careers. Students have the opportunity to take 15 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, enroll in college-level classes through the Gaston College Career and College Promise program, and take virtual courses through Gaston Online or the North Carolina Virtual Public School.
South Point consistently performs well on North Carolina End-of-Course tests and has exceeded academic growth expectations in seven of the past nine years. The school has earned a performance grade of B for the past several years and boasts a graduation rate of more than 97 percent.
In addition to core academics, students can take classes in the fine arts, including band, chorus and visual arts.
At South Point High School, students can choose from several hands-on CTE classes, including:
