About Us
South Point High School is committed to academic excellence, student success and school pride. We serve students in grades 9–12 and offer a variety of programs to help students grow in the classroom and beyond.
Students can take 15 Advanced Placement (AP) classes, enroll in college-level courses through the Gaston College Career and College Promise program, and take virtual classes through Gaston Online. South Point consistently performs well on North Carolina End-of-Course tests and has exceeded academic growth expectations in seven of the past nine years. We have a school performance grade of B and a graduation rate of more than 97 percent.
In addition to strong academics, students can participate in fine arts programs such as band, chorus and visual arts, take hands-on career and technical education classes, and build leadership skills through our Navy JROTC program.
South Point also has a strong tradition in athletics. We offer a wide range of sports for student-athletes to learn teamwork, discipline and school spirit. Our athletic teams are known for their hard work, sportsmanship and success on and off the field.
