South Point High School exceeded its academic growth expectations for the 2025-2026 year. We also achieved a B school performance grade, and we increased our graduation rate to above 94 percent. All of this means we are moving in the right direction toward higher academic achievement!

South Point High School is dedicated to academic excellence, student success and school pride. Students can take Advanced Placement (AP) and college-level courses, participate in fine arts programs like band, chorus and visual arts, engage in career and technical education, and develop leadership skills through our Navy JROTC program.

We are proud of our marching band and appreciate what the band brings to our football games on Friday nights. Be sure to take in a game this fall and support the Red Raiders.

Providing care for students at school

Thanks to our partnership with Kintegra Health, we offer a telehealth clinic here at our school. Students, who are experiencing a minor illness or condition, can be seen by a medical provider virtually. This allows us to provide care for students without them having to leave school to go to the doctor.

South Point Senior earns Governor’s Volunteer Service Award

South Point High School senior Rex Dover was named a recipient of the 2026 Governor's Volunteer Service Award. The United Way of Gaston County serves as the official award coordinator, processing local nominations for individuals, businesses, and community groups.

Academics

At South Point High School, we offer 15 AP classes and college-level courses through Gaston College. We have a B performance grade and consistently exceed growth on state End-of-Course tests.

Athletics

For the third consecutive year, all 21 varsity athletic teams earned “Scholar-Athlete” team honors from the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
