South Point High School is dedicated to academic excellence, student success and school pride. Students can take Advanced Placement (AP) and college-level courses, participate in fine arts programs like band, chorus and visual arts, engage in career and technical education, and develop leadership skills through our Navy JROTC program.

South Point ranks in the top 10 among all schools for having the highest student proficiency, and we are No. 1 among all traditional (non-magnet) high schools for the highest proficiency. We exceeded our academic growth expectations and earned a B school performance grade, which is difficult to achieve on the state accountability and testing program.

The South Point High School girls golf team won the state championship for the second consecutive year. Additionally, the Stuart W. Cramer girls golf team finished as the state runner-up. These are impressive achievements, and we are so very proud of the championship athletics in Gaston County Schools.

In the 2024-2025 school year, we won state championships in women’s golf, swimming, tennis and cheerleading. We also earned the Wells Fargo Cup for the Big South 3A Conference, and 21 varsity teams received "Scholar Athlete" recognition.

The South Point High School marching band has earned top honors at local and regional competitions, showcasing their talent and dedication.

South Point High School has strong school spirit, with students enthusiastically supporting our athletic teams at games and events.

Thanks to our partnership with Kintegra Health, we offer a telehealth clinic here at our school. Students, who are experiencing a minor illness or condition, can be seen by a medical provider virtually. This allows us to provide care for students without them having to leave school to go to the doctor.
